The materials for the voter registration of the general elections on October 9 are currently being allocated, as announced by the National Elections Commission in the electoral calendar presented today. The registration, initially scheduled for February and postponed to March and April due to logistical conditions and the rainy season, is now set to take place from March 15 to April 28.

The National Elections Commission assures that the necessary conditions are in place, with the distribution of materials remaining for some provinces. The spokesperson for the NEC, Paulo Cuinica, highlighted that materials are already in most provinces, and electoral agents will undergo training starting next week.

The new electoral calendar maintains voter registration abroad between March 30 and April 28, with the publication of the total number of registered citizens expected from June 4 to June 9, 2024. Political parties expressed concerns about potential issues, such as malfunctioning mobile devices and pre-defined lists, urging effective management to avoid repeating past mistakes. The period for submitting candidacy applications remains between May 13 and June 10, with the electoral campaign scheduled to take place from August 24 to October 6.
